Djon-Djon(Black mushroom rice) is a traditional Haitian dish. It is a specialty in the Haitian culinary culture, this rice is commonly served with meat, poultry or seafood dishes. The mushrooms used for this dish are grown in the north part of Haiti and they are sold dry. The method used for the rice to get it’s beautiful color is by boiling the mushrooms in hot water.
Chef Miz will show you how to make your own Djon Djon with some simple and authentic techniques, while going over the history of this dish. This class is happening virtually on Zoom. Chef Miz will also teach you how to make your own Epis, which is a key ingredient in this recipe.
